BRINGING ENERGY AND MUSIC TOGETHER
Touring as a violinist and performing with chart topping artists such as Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and working with DJ's, Kent has learned how to bring the energy to every performance. His vision is that every student should connect with music at an emotional and physical level. Part of this experience is playing music that this generation of students resonate and connect with, often that means pop and rock music. This means the students are standing, dancing, smiling and "jamming" to music, all while maintaining an emphasis on good technique, introducing music technology and improvisation.
Kent works as a traveling Artist Mentor with Mark Wood's Electrify Your Strings! artist-in-schools program. This is a traveling program focusing on stimulating orchestra programs with contemporary music, electric instruments and music technology. BECOME A CONTEMPORARY STRING PLAYER
Lessons, tutorials, workshops, advice, etc
What you can expect
Becoming a contemporary string player is a tall order. There is a lot more to it than just learning to play your instrument. In lessons, workshops and blogs you can expect to learn about all the peripherals of being an independent musician. Below are some of the topics that we will address.
CONTEMPORARY STRING TECHNIQUE
There's a lot of different techniques that can be applied to your playing as your explore commercial music. Things like, strum bowing, chopping, slide vibrato, pinch harmonics, sweep bowing, etc.
This is a big one, there's so much technology out there that string players can incorporate into their artistry. We will talk about things like setting up a home recording studio, pedal boards, sound systems, etc.
The business side of music often goes unaddressed in our training. This is a subject I studied in college and am very passionate about sharing with independent musicians to help them better their brands.
